Do you know who murdered Tion Price? African-American/Black male Tion Price, 19, was shot just after midnight on March 31, 2019, outside an apartment building in the 300 block of Oklahoma Street in East Anchorage. Officers found three people injured: one adult male who had been shot in the upper body and died at the scene, later identified as 19-year-old Tion Price; another adult male with life-threatening gunshot wounds; and an adult woman who had been assaulted and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives said the case appeared to be isolated, that those involved knew one another, and that drugs might have been a factor.
In the days immediately after the killing, Anchorage police named 19-year-old Tion Price as the victim and continued interviewing witnesses while asking the public for information. By June 1, 2019, detectives said they had identified four suspects and obtained arrest warrants. Officers with the Investigative Support Unit located and arrested Wutner Lul, 23; Izaiha Moronta, 21; Alaaaldin Bom, 20; and Deavonnie Harford-Lee, 21, taking them into custody at different locations around Anchorage that weekend. Police announced the four faced charges including manslaughter, first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and first- and second-degree assault.
News accounts at the time further reported that the four arrests followed a string of March assaults connected to the East Anchorage apartment where 19-year-old Tion Price was killed, and that a second man suffered life-threatening injuries while a woman was assaulted during the same incident. Subsequent obituaries confirmed the identity and age of the 19-year-old male victim and the date of his death.
A later compilation of the case reiterated the victim's details and identified 19-year-old Tion Price as African-American/Black, aligning with police updates that the crime was targeted among acquaintances rather than random.
