On October 16, 2023, 27-year-old Gunnar Watson was fatally shot while standing in the doorway of his home in Wheelock, Vermont, around 5:50 a.m. Watson, a sergeant in the Vermont Army National Guard and a foreman at Lucas Tree Experts, was preparing to leave for work when the incident occurred.
