On a summer day in Springfield, Vermont, the community was shaken by the discovery of a deceased individual. Justin Gilliam, a 38-year-old Black/African American male, was found alongside Greeley Road near Spencer Brook on June 6, 2022. The initial call to the Springfield police came from a resident who reported what appeared to be the body of an adult man. The investigation was soon taken over by the Vermont State Police as the circumstances were deemed suspicious.
