In the small town of Roslyn, South Dakota, the life of 33-year-old Jeremy Hendrickson, a White/Caucasian male, was tragically cut short in the fall of 2015. On the night of November 20th, a violent intrusion shattered the peace of the Hendrickson home. Jason Paul Lewandowski forcibly entered the residence and shot Jeremy in the head. The act was carried out in the presence of Hendrickson's wife and child.
Following the shooting, Hendrickson was transported to a hospital in Fargo where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries on December 9, 2015. His passing left a deep void in the lives of his family and the close-knit community of Roslyn. Hendrickson was known as a loving husband and a proud father to his two young children. He had deep roots in the area, having grown up in Roslyn and returned to take over the family farm.
The assailant, 44-year-old Jason Paul Lewandowski, also a resident of Roslyn, was apprehended after the incident. A grand jury indicted him on multiple charges, including premeditated first-degree murder and first-degree burglary. In October 2017, a jury found Lewandowski guilty of the murder of Jeremy Hendrickson. He appealed his conviction, but the South Dakota Supreme Court affirmed the verdict in January 2019, noting the overwhelming evidence against him, which included his confession and the eyewitness testimony of Hendrickson's wife. Lewandowski is currently serving a life sentence for the crime.
