On February 10, 2016, Fargo Police Officer Jason David Moszer, 33, responded to a domestic violence call involving gunfire at a residence near downtown Fargo, North Dakota. The suspect, Marcus Schumacher, had barricaded himself inside the home and informed dispatchers of his intent to shoot at officers. While establishing a perimeter, Officer Moszer was struck by a bullet fired from within the house. Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries on February 11, 2016.
