In the winter of 2017, a hunting trip in North Dakota ended in tragedy for a Minnesota family. Ronald Rechtzigel, a 57-year-old Caucasian male, was fatally shot on February 7, 2017, while hunting coyotes near the small town of Edgeley in LaMoure County. An avid outdoorsman, Rechtzigel had traveled from his home in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, to pursue his passion for hunting, a trip he had reportedly made for many years.
