In the early morning hours of January 15, 2013, a fatal encounter occurred between 22-year-old Gregory Michael Gordon and Honolulu police officers in Waikiki. Gordon, a soldier stationed at Schofield Barracks, was driving a pickup truck when he was pursued by police after allegedly hitting several police vehicles. The chase ended tragically with Gordon being shot multiple times by officers.
