On July 25, 2016, 24-year-old Melvin Santos was fatally shot at a residence on Kea Street in Kahului, Hawaii. The home was known for hosting illegal gambling activities. Santos, reportedly a participant in a card game, attempted to hide in a storage room during a robbery but was shot through the door.
