Miguel Agoo Jr., a 17-year-old male Filipino teen from Waiʻanae, died in the early hours of May 21, 2023, after violence erupted at Māʻkaha Beach Park. What began as a confrontation near the shoreline turned into a gunfire exchange that ended in panic and blood on the pavement. Police were called in around 1 a.m. and found Miguel suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
