On July 18, 1926, Chief of Police Marvin Williams of the Midland City Police Department in Alabama was fatally shot during a traffic stop. At approximately 6:30 p.m., Chief Williams stopped a vehicle for reckless driving. As he approached the car, the driver exited and shot him.
