In the spring of 1994, a senseless act of violence cut short the life of 18-year-old Tamika Renee Collins, a young woman working at a Popeye's Famous Fried Chicken restaurant in Gadsden, Alabama. On the night of April 15th, what began as a robbery escalated into a horrific tragedy that would leave a lasting scar on the community. Two armed men, Robert Bryant Melson and Cuhuatemoc Hinricky Peraita, entered the restaurant with the intent to rob it.
