In the early hours of New Year's Day 2007, the life of 20-year-old Wyteria Randnitta Falconer Rogers, a Black female, was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. At approximately 2:15 a.m., she was discovered in her car on the 200 block of 93rd Street North, having been fatally shot. This violent act marked the first homicide of the year in the city.
The investigation into her death quickly focused on her boyfriend, Gregory Johnson Jr., who was also 20 years old at the time.
Authorities arrested Johnson in connection with the shooting. Investigations revealed that the couple had been involved in an argument shortly before her death, reportedly after another woman called Johnson's cell phone.
Following his arrest, Gregory Johnson Jr. was charged with the murder of Wyteria Rogers. He was later convicted of the crime. The legal proceedings concluded with Johnson receiving a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Wyteria Rogers was a mother, leaving behind a young daughter.
