On a spring evening in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 28-year-old Jeremy Conner was tragically cut short. On May 16, 2009, Conner, a male, was killed by an act of gun violence. In the wake of his death, family and friends mourned the loss of a young man who was a son, father, and brother.

The investigation into Conner's death led police to identify a suspect. Marius Copes, also of Birmingham, was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting. The case then move ...
