On March 8, 2014, 21-year-old Emerson Crayton Jr. was fatally shot by an Alexander City police officer outside a Huddle House restaurant in Alexander City, Alabama. The incident occurred after police responded to reports of a fight between two men at the location. Upon arrival, officers attempted to intervene, at which point Crayton reportedly entered his vehicle and accelerated toward an officer.
