In the quiet town of Carbon Hill, Alabama, a sense of unease settled over the community in the spring of 2014. On the evening of April 17th, 67-year-old Morris Gene Ervin, a Black/African American male, was discovered unresponsive inside his home. The grim reality of the situation soon became clear: Mr. Ervin had been fatally shot. The discovery, made at approximately 9:30 p.m., marked the beginning of a long and frustrating search for answers.
