On May 1, 2018, 55-year-old Hernan Antonio Padilla and 56-year-old Allen Clifford Sandlin were found shot to death at Padilla's residence near Carbon Hill, Alabama. The discovery of their bodies prompted an extensive investigation by the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and other agencies.
