In the quiet town of Trinity, Alabama, the life of Adrian Wray, a 44-year-old Black / African American male, came to a tragic end on September 14, 2014. Known affectionately as "Rudy" to his friends and family, Wray was a former athlete who had played football, basketball, and track at Austin High School and went on to play football at Jacksonville State University and Murray State. After his athletic career, he worked as a self-employed contractor for over a decade in nearby Decatur.
The circumstances of his death unfolded in a heartbreaking sequence of events that also claimed the life of his wife, Angela Cater Wray. According to law enforcement, the incident was a murder-suicide, with Adrian Wray identified as the suspect in his wife's death. The tragedy was compounded by the fact that the horrific event was witnessed by a child.
