On an autumn day in Trinity, Alabama, the life of 23-year-old Jordan Wiley Miller, a Caucasian male, was cut tragically short. It was October 14, 2020, when authorities received a call reporting a burglary at a residence on County Road 549, claiming an intruder had been shot. Upon their arrival, they found Miller with a fatal gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
As investigators delved into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the initial report of a random home invasion began to unravel. It soon became apparent that this was no chance encounter. The investigation revealed that everyone involved in the incident was acquainted with one another, shifting the focus of the case from a burglary to a homicide. This revelation led to the arrest of four individuals connected to Miller's death.
The investigation resulted in serious charges for two of the suspects. Karsin Page, who was 19 at the time, faced a charge of capital murder, along with a count of first-degree possession of marijuana. Serenity Marie Arteaga, 22, was charged with murder and first-degree possession of marijuana. Two other individuals, 22-year-old Haley Whitaker and 25-year-old Scandal Griffis, were also arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana. The community mourned the loss of Miller, who was a father to his son, Jaxton Buck Miller, and daughter, Rehgan Williams. His funeral was held a few days later on October 18, 2020.
