On October 10, 2022, in Trinity, Alabama, 13-year-old Mauricio Nevarez was shot at a residence. Responding officers from the Trinity Police Department found him with a gunshot wound; he was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries on October 12, 2022.
Following the incident, a male juvenile suspect was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter as an adult. Due to the suspect's age, authorities withheld his identity.
