Almost three months after she'd been reported missing, Chanty's body was located in a wooded area along Highways 9 and 22 in the Nixburg Community.
15-year-old Chanty Shiverdecker was last seen leaving basketball practice at Radney School on December 9, 1994. Chanty was to call her brother once practice was over so he could pick her up, but he never received the call. On February 25, 1995, Alabama State Troopers received a phone call about an unidentified body . Upon arrival, authorities located Chanty's remains in an abandoned wood yard off Highway 9.
