In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 1, 2008, violence shattered the quiet of a Washington, D.C. neighborhood. Twenty-one-year-old Edward Mitchell was in the 4600 block of Livingston Road SE, when the sound of gunshots pierced the air at approximately 2:40 a.m. Responding to the reports, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department discovered Mitchell suffering from gunshot wounds.
