In the autumn of 2015, the life of 33-year-old Cedric Hollinger, a male resident of Mobile, Alabama, was tragically cut short. On Tuesday, October 27, police were called to a residence on Welworth Street where they discovered Hollinger deceased. An investigation swiftly determined that he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Within four days of the discovery, the Mobile Police Department announced the arrests of three individuals in connection with the homicide.
The suspects were identified as 17-year-old Jason Massey, 19-year-old Darius McCants, and 20-year-old Deonte Moore. Both Massey and McCants were charged with murder. Massey faced a litany of additional charges, including possession of a controlled substance, carrying a pistol without a permit, first-degree possession of marijuana, and discharging a gun into an occupied building. McCants also had a misdemeanor menacing charge filed against him. While Deonte Moore was arrested in connection to the homicide, the specific charges against him were not immediately detailed.
