In the winter of 2016, the life of 16-year-old Raven Terese White, a high school junior with dreams of becoming a nurse, was tragically cut short. On the evening of January 8th, in Birmingham, Alabama, the promising young female was the victim of a fatal shooting. At six and a half months pregnant, she was looking forward to becoming a mother to a baby girl she had already named Aaliyah Renee.
The night of the incident, Raven was sitting in a car with the father of her unborn child at
the Panorama East Apartments off Center Point Parkway. They were eating pizza when a gunman approached and opened fire. Raven was struck by the gunfire, and despite being rushed to the hospital, both she and her unborn daughter succumbed to their injuries. The child's father, who was also in the car, was unharmed.
In the immediate aftermath and for years to follow, Raven's family has pleaded with the public for any information that could lead to the killer. Her mother has spoken of the immense pain of losing her daughter and her first grandchild in such a violent manner. Over the years, a reward was offered for information leading to an arrest, but the case has grown cold.
A decade after her death, the murder of Raven Terese White remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made. Birmingham Police have continued to ask for anyone with information to come forward. The family continues to hold out hope for justice, keeping Raven's memory alive through photographs and remembrances of the bright future that was stolen from her and her unborn child.
