On March 1, 2016, 19-year-old Ki-Jana Ray Freeman was fatally shot in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Freeman and a 17-year-old companion were in the parking lot of Spring Creek Apartments around 11 p.m., intending to sell an Xbox gaming system. Instead, they were ambushed by assailants who fired multiple shots, resulting in Freeman's death and injuries to his companion.
