On July 20, 2016, in Tallassee, Alabama, 62-year-old Connie Sharron was fatally shot by her husband, 65-year-old Martin Sharron, in their bedroom. Using a .45-caliber handgun, Martin shot Connie in the head before turning the weapon on himself, resulting in his own death. The couple was preparing to leave for a doctor's appointment in Birmingham when the incident occurred.
