In the early morning hours of August 12, 2009, the life of 19-year-old Charles Williams, known as 'Lil Gus,' was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m. behind a residential building at 2329 Calvin Woodland, Sr. Place, SE in Washington, D.C. Williams was struck multiple times and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Another individual was also wounded in the leg during the shooting but survived.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is handling the ongoing investigation into Williams' death. In the wake of the shooting, a makeshift memorial shrine was created near the scene of the crime, a testament to the grief felt by those who knew the young man.
Despite the passage of time, the case remains unsolved, with no arrests having been made and no suspects publicly identified.
Authorities have continued to seek assistance from the public in order to bring those responsible for Charles Williams' death to justice. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered by the police department for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in the homicide.
