In the quiet community of Piedmont, Alabama, a heart-wrenching story unfolded on January 18, 2018, forever altering the lives of a local family. On that day, 19-year-old Heather Parker, a Caucasian female with aspirations of becoming a nurse, was tragically killed in a violent act that also claimed the lives of her younger brother and her fiancé.
Heather, a graduate of Piedmont High School, was a student at Gadsden State, where she was reportedly earning straight A's.
She was described by friends as a smart, caring, and loving individual who was always smiling and outgoing. In her free time, she enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading. She worked at a local Huddle House and was building a future with her 20-year-old fiancé, Brandon Roberts.
The devastating events occurred at the residence of Heather's father, 49-year-old Tony Parker. In an act of incomprehensible violence, Tony Parker fatally shot his daughter, Heather, his 12-year-old son, Russell 'Rusty' Parker, and Heather's fiancé, Brandon Roberts. The three victims were discovered in the front yard of the home. Following the killings, Tony Parker contacted 911 to report what he had done and also called his sister to confess. He then drove to a nearby convenience store, the Rabbittown Cafe, where he took his own life.
The motive for the triple homicide-suicide remains a somber mystery, though it is reported that Tony Parker had recently separated from his wife and was not coping well with the situation. Family members described him as a 'monster' who had tormented them. The Calhoun County Sheriff, Matthew Wade, noted that while Parker and his wife had a history of marital problems, including a previous separation and a protection from abuse order filed against him in 2011, there was no clear provocation for the tragic events of that day.
