In a quiet home on Law Martin Road in Piedmont, Alabama, a grim discovery was made. Inside, authorities found the bodies of 56-year-old Sandra Ranae Leath and 49-year-old Dave Dewayne Pierce. Both were deceased, having suffered from gunshot wounds.
The Piedmont Police Department, led by Interim Chief Nathan Johnson, responded to the scene just after 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday. Their investigation revealed that Leath had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Pierce's wound, however, appeared to be self-inflicted.
The initial findings from the police investigation suggest a murder-suicide. It is believed that Pierce shot Leath before turning the gun on himself. As the investigation is ongoing, further details have not been released to the public. Due to the nature of the incident, with the sole suspect also being deceased, there have been no arrests made in the case.
