On a tragic day in Piedmont, Alabama, the life of 20-year-old Brandon Tyler Roberts was cut short in a devastating act of violence. On January 18, 2018, the young man, who was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County, was found deceased in the front yard of a home in the White Plains community. Roberts was known for his passion for the outdoors, enjoying activities like hunting and fishing, and was employed at HON in Cedartown, Georgia.
The events of that day unfolded into a grim
triple homicide-suicide. Brandon was not the only victim of this senseless act. He was killed alongside his 19-year-old fiancée, Heather Parker, and her younger brother, 12-year-old Russell 'Rusty' Parker. The person responsible for the deaths was identified as Heather and Rusty's father, 49-year-old Tony Parker. After fatally shooting his two children and his daughter's fiancé, Tony Parker contacted the authorities, confessing to the murders and stating his intent to commit suicide.
Law enforcement later located Tony Parker approximately three miles from the scene of the initial crime, near the Rabbittown General Store, where he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While reports indicated that Parker was upset due to a recent separation from his wife, a definitive motive for his violent actions has never been fully determined. With the perpetrator deceased, the investigation into the deaths of Brandon Roberts, Heather Parker, and Rusty Parker is considered closed.
