On February 24, 2018, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a fire along Mulga Loop Road near the Minor community in Alabama. Upon extinguishing the blaze, deputies discovered the remains of 29-year-old Monty Lewayne Davis of Birmingham. Evidence indicated that Davis had been shot elsewhere before his body was transported to the location and set on fire, presumably to conceal the crime.
