On March 14, 2018, Nancy Swift, a 63-year-old nursing supervisor at UAB Highlands Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot in her workplace. The assailant, identified as 31-year-old Trevis Deron Coleman, was an employee in the hospital's central sterile supply department.
