In the quiet community of Pell City, Alabama, a tragic story unfolded on a summer day, forever altering the lives of two families. It was on June 9, 2018, that 20-year-old Logan Douglas Lambert, a male, and his companion, 20-year-old Hope Michelle Trapp, found their lives cut short in a senseless act of violence. The pair were discovered at a walking track located in the 8600 block of U.S. Highway 78 in the nearby area of Cook Springs.
Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds in what authorities described as an altercation.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly led law enforcement to a suspect. Kevin Wayne McCrory, a 41-year-old man from Pell City, was arrested in connection with the deaths of Lambert and Trapp. The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office charged McCrory with two counts of capital murder, and he was subsequently held in the St. Clair County Jail without bond. This was not the first time the paths of McCrory and Lambert had crossed within the legal system; at the time of the shooting, McCrory had a pending court date for a felony assault charge that had been brought against him in 2016, with Logan Lambert as the victim.
