In the early hours of a Monday morning in Elkmont, Alabama, the life of 34-year-old John Few was tragically cut short in a violent confrontation. On July 16, 2018, Few had just pulled into the driveway of the home he shared with others, including 48-year-old Jason Wooldridge. The moments that followed would shatter the quiet of the neighborhood and leave two men dead.
Few was on the phone with a friend as he arrived home.
The conversation took a terrifying turn when the friend overheard Few telling Wooldridge to "put down the gun." Immediately after this plea, the sound of gunfire erupted, and the line went silent. A female at the residence placed a frantic 911 call at 12:18 a.m., reporting the deaths of both men.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Few and Wooldridge in close proximity to each other. A small handgun was discovered on the ground next to Wooldridge. An investigation determined that Few had been shot once in the chest and once in the head. Wooldridge was found to have a single gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide. Evidence indicated that Jason Wooldridge, who was identified as the cousin of John Few's girlfriend, had shot and killed Few before turning the gun on himself. As the perpetrator of the murder was also deceased, no arrests were made in connection with the death of John Few. The motive for the tragic events of that night was not publicly released.
