On a cold evening in Montgomery, Alabama, the life of Dana Martin, a 31-year-old Black transgender woman, was tragically cut short. On January 6, 2019, first responders were dispatched to the 3900 block of Brewer Road after reports of a vehicle crash. There, in a roadside ditch, they discovered Martin's car. Inside, they found her with a fatal gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe she was shot while driving, near where her car was ultimately found.
