On a summer afternoon in Washington, D.C., violence shattered the day, leaving two cousins dead and a community reeling. James Johnson, a 53-year-old man, was fatally shot on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, in the unit block of O Street NW. The attack also claimed the life of his 43-year-old cousin, Rashad Johnson. The shooting unfolded at approximately 12:48 p.m. when at least two assailants emerged from a black SUV and opened fire on a group of people, striking five men in total.
