On March 28, 2019, 22-year-old Durand Lamar Witherspoon was fatally shot during a gambling dispute at an apartment complex located on the 1200 block of 12th Street North in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident also resulted in injuries to two other individuals, one of whom sustained life-threatening wounds.
