Rondrick Mosley was a loving, caring, and outspoken man who could always put a smile on your face, according to his wife, Latoya. The couple had been together since they were teenagers and were raising five children. Mr. Mosley, a 34-year-old Black male, was known as a fun person to be around, and his unexpected death left his family in disbelief.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 8, 2020, police and fire medics in Montgomery, Alabama, responded to a call about a shooting.
Shortly before 12:30 p.m., they arrived at the 4700 block of South Court Street, where they found Rondrick Mosley. He had been fatally shot and died at the scene. His death marked the city’s 45th homicide of that year.
The circumstances of the shooting were not made public, but police identified a suspect at the scene. The man, 37-year-old Michael Farris, was taken into custody immediately. Later that day, authorities formally charged Farris with murder in connection with Mr. Mosley’s death.
Farris was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility, and a judge set his bond at $150,000. As of January 2021, the case against him was moving through the judicial system. For Mr. Mosley's family, the loss was immense. "It’s taken a great toll on me and the kids and the rest of the family," his wife Latoya said. "It was very unexpected. We’re just still in total disbelief. It’s a hard task daily."
