In the late hours of a November evening in 2020, the life of 26-year-old Micah Spencer Coon was violently cut short in his Andalusia, Alabama, home. The tragic events of November 16th began with a parking lot altercation between Coon and the husband of a woman named Brittany Head. Following the fight, which Coon reportedly won, Head and her husband allegedly recruited three other individuals to go to Coon's residence on George Street.
Shortly after 9:30 p.m., a group of intruders broke into Coon's home. Inside, Coon made a desperate call to 911 while his fiancée and three children hid in another room. During the harrowing call, Coon could be heard pleading with the assailants, telling them his children were in the house. Responding officers arrived to a brutal scene; Coon had been severely beaten, with his front teeth knocked out and a black eye. He had also sustained gunshot wounds to his stomach and head from a rifle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Micah Coon's murder led to the identification of several suspects. Brittany Head was arrested and, in October, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. Another suspect, Dontavious Powell, pleaded guilty to felony murder in 2023 and received a nine-year prison sentence. Two other individuals, Tyquise Jamal Jenkins and Courtney Lee Porter, were also charged in connection with the murder.
A fifth suspect, Frank McQueen of Andalusia, fled the area after a warrant was issued for his arrest in 2021. For years, he remained a fugitive. However, in January 2025, U.S. Marshals tracked him to a hospital parking lot in Delaware, Ohio, and took him into custody. McQueen is being held on murder and burglary charges and is expected to be extradited to Alabama to face trial alongside the remaining defendants.
