In the late hours of a Friday evening in Washington, D.C., the life of Sirrocco Delonte Johnson, a 31-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On April 13, 2012, at approximately 11:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1200 block of Trenton Place in the Southeast quadrant of the city. Upon arrival, officers discovered Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was
pronounced dead. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch launched an investigation into the shooting, ruling his death a homicide. In the immediate aftermath, authorities issued a lookout for a Black male suspect who was seen wearing a red, white, and blue jacket.
In the days following his death, family and friends mourned the loss of Johnson, who was a father. His loved ones gathered for a funeral service on April 19, 2012, to pay their final respects. A street memorial was also created in his honor on Trenton Place, a testament to the impact he had on his community.
Despite the ongoing investigation by detectives, there have been no public announcements of any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the years since Johnson's death. The case remains open, and the Metropolitan Police Department continues to seek assistance from the public for any information that might lead to a resolution for his family.
