In the early evening of December 28, 2015, violence shattered the quiet of a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood. Darnell Antonio Mayfield, a 34-year-old resident of the area, was in the 2300 block of Hartford Street SE when he was targeted in a shooting.
