On May 12, 2021, Huntsville Police responded to a call shortly before 7 p.m. regarding an altercation at a residence on the 2800 block of Brett Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Alex West suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the shooting was domestic-related and stemmed from an altercation. The case was set to be presented to a Madison County Grand Jury.
