On June 29, 2021, 73-year-old William "Paw Paw" Gerry Taylor was found unresponsive behind the counter of his business, Four-Way Grocery in Alpine, Alabama. A customer discovered Taylor and called 911; however, medical intervention was unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
