In the early evening of May 29, 2013, a grim discovery was made behind a residence in Northwest Washington, D.C. Twenty-year-old Nathaniel Nugent, a Black male, was found unconscious, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred in the 5300 block of 14th Street NW, where authorities were called to the scene at approximately 6:00 p.m. Despite the arrival of emergency services, Mr. Nugent was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Metropolitan Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the shooting death of the young D.C. resident. Detectives from the Homicide Branch began canvassing the area and appealing to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of those responsible for this act of violence.
