On December 5, 2021, 32-year-old Latoya Mitchell was fatally shot in the 900 block of West South Boulevard in Montgomery, Alabama. The incident occurred around 5:50 p.m., marking one of three homicides in the city that day.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of 32-year-old Yolanda Gary, also from Montgomery. On December 13, 2021, Gary was charged with Mitchell's murder and taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Task Force.
