In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Fort Payne, Alabama, an altercation shattered the quiet of the new year. On January 2, 2022, in the 1000 block of Gault Avenue North, shots were fired, leaving one man dead. The deceased was identified as Randell Jerome Meyers, a 44-year-old male from the Mount Vernon community. Fort Payne Police and Fire Medics arrived at the scene around 9:30 a.m. to find Mr. Meyers.
