On January 6, 2022, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 8-year-old Aiden Carter Williams and his mother, 29-year-old Derika Shanice McGhee, were tragically killed in their home during the early morning hours. Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance call around 3 a.m. at their residence on Charolais Drive. Witnesses reported that McGhee's boyfriend, 34-year-old Darrin Lamar Patton Jr., had possibly shot her during an argument.
