Dawon Nathaniel Markham, aged 42, was shot and killed on June 19, 2013, at approximately 8:25 PM in front of 221 62nd Street, NE, Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the scene after reports of gunfire but, unfortunately, Markham succumbed to his injuries. This incident occurred during a year marked by a spike in violent crime in certain neighborhoods of Washington, D.C.
