On February 27, 2022, 30-year-old David Isaiah Ellis of Albertville, Alabama, was fatally shot in Guntersville. The incident occurred on Wiggs Street, following an altercation at a different location earlier that day. After the shooting, Ellis was transported to Marshall Medical Center North, where he succumbed to his injuries. The hospital was briefly placed on lockdown as authorities searched for the shooter.
