Death by Force

On June 5, 2022, 18-year-old African American male Rayshod Edwin Goldthwaite was fatally shot while driving in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. when Birmingham police responded to a report of a vehicle crash at 608 2nd Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the vehicle had collided with a building, and inside, they found Goldthwaite unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel.
