On a summer evening in Washington, D.C., the life of Delonta Lavale Martin was cut short by gunfire. On July 20, 2014, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the 22-year-old man was shot and killed in the 4700 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE. The Metropolitan Police Department identified Martin as the victim of the fatal shooting.
